Mary Mytting in South Africa
(September 2005-September 2006)
To assist God in shaping the lives of his children is both an awesome responsibility and a privilege. For the past year I have been working with Youth With a Mission in Jeffrey's Bay South Africa. I have had the privilege of working as staff in the Discipleship Training School with youth ages 18-25 years old. The students come from all over the world to learn more about God, themselves and the world around them. Combining classroom learning and actual ministry in the township opens their eyes and their hearts to both God and their fellow man. I am passionate about seeing my students grow in Christ like character while enriching the lives of the poor and needy around them.
The YWAM base in J-bay is strategically placed within the township. Our positioning allows us to have significant influence within the community by direct ministry and by example. In addition to a Computer training program, 2005 saw the launch of 2 new ministries: Kidzone - a children's program and EARS - an Environmental Stewardship program. Both programs are focused on uplifting the dignity of the people.
This next year I will be returning to South Africa to take on a leadership role within the DTS program and contribute my knowledge and experience as part of the leadership of the YWAM base in Jeffrey's Bay. Please pray for me as I step out in this new position.
