The Doves - Thailand
Peter and Cavelle Dove continue to serve in Bangkok, Thailand wher much has occurred in a short while. Beginning with the birth of their second son, Benjamin, on September 5th. Their oldest, Matthew, is adjusting to his brother and attending nursery school. Two weeks later was the coup. Contrary to western opinion, the coup was very welcome among the Thai, especially among the university students whom Peter and Cavelle work with.
One new endeavor among campus students and young adults in the community they work in is an alternative service Saturday nights called 'The Upper Room.' Last month a couple of young people made decisions to follow Christ. They also have a relationship to a ministry called Nightlight, which takes prostitutes off the street and gives them alternative employment making jewlery that is sold in North America via the internet (for those interested log on to www.nightlightbangkok.com).
Until recently, Cavelle has been frequently travelling to the far south of Thailand working with Muslim leaders on community based solutions to the violence there, where God has opened a great door of influence for her. She asks for prayer as she balances her multiple calls.
Recently, a team from Westbank came to serve in the Tsunami zone, and on Phi Phi Island they have connected with a community that has miraculously seen 80% come to Christ. They would love to have a volunteer Thai/English team to disciple and teach English in this area (check out www.impactasia.ca if curious). They are also excited to be able to send out their first Thai cross-cultural missionary to Nepal - a historic step for the churches in the area. Please pray for Oum, as she prepares for this great step.
The Doves appreciate our prayers and thank us for our love and support.
